The Ondo State Police Command, on Tuesday, said it had not arrested anyone over the looting of a truck reportedly conveying some items suspected to be palliatives along Ondo-Akure Expressway.
A truck was on Monday evening attacked by some residents of Akure, the Ondo State capital.
It was gathered that the bus, which was said to be travelling to Akure from Ondo town, parked by the roadside after developing a fault but residents of the Adebowale area of the town, having discovered the content of the truck, allegedly stormed the scene and looted the vehicle.
A source in the area narrated that the looters, who saw the packed foodstuffs in cartons with the photo of President Bola Tinubu, mobilised to the scene and looted the items.
The source said, “Most of those who looted the truck were Okada riders and some artisans in the area.
“As soon as they diecovered that the truck was carrying foodstuffs and other items, they mobilised to the place, and they looted as many cartons as they could.”
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, said the command was still investigating the matter, but no one had been arrested.
“We haven’t arrested anyone, but we are investigating,” the PPRO explained
