Kwara Becomes Pioneer State To Launch Digital Economy Platform In Nigeria

Kwara State has successfully graduated no fewer than 150 participants from Cohort 1 of the 3 Million Technical Talents program (3MTT) within the state.

The Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor on Digital and Innovation, Kayode Ishola, disclosed this on Thursday during the launch of the ‘Kwara Economy Digital platform.’

During the Cohort 1 graduation of the 3 Million Technical Talents, Mr. Kayode emphasized the importance of embracing technology to drive progress, create opportunities, and tackle societal challenges in his opening speech.

He highlighted Kwara as one of the few states in the country that is taking advantage of the potential offered by the 3 Million talents program.

According to him, the Kwara Digital Economy platform aims to enhance opportunities in the digital and business sectors by connecting tech talents with entrepreneurs to help them utilize digital resources effectively for business improvement and to gain industry experience while earning simultaneously.

Hon. Ishola Kayode noted that the initiative marks a significant milestone as the first of its kind in any state in Nigeria, positioning Kwara State as a trailblazer.

He commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for providing the necessary resources for the development of the trainees.

Rafiu Ajakaye, the Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to apply their newly acquired skills to drive positive change within society, emphasizing their role in the state’s growth.

Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, praised the graduating class for their commitment and successful completion of the intensive training program. Dr. Tijani emphasized the significance of community-building alongside their technical expertise, highlighting the value of collaboration in leveraging their skills for the greater societal good despite the challenges they may have faced along the way.

Earlier, the State Commissioner for Business, Innovation, and Technology, Damilola Yusuf Adelodun, stated that the gathering demonstrates Governor AbdulRazaq’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and supporting technology programs crucial for creating opportunities for aspiring tech professionals.

Adelodun noted that Governor AbdulRazaq’s administration has established the Ilorin Innovation Hub to nurture and assist tech talents, startups, and innovations within the state.

Similarly, she highlighted ongoing programs like the E-hackathon and partnerships with IHS and other organizations, focusing on areas such as connectivity, data transfer, e-government, e-health, and more.

Engr. Taofeek Abdulkareem, the CEO of Plat Technologies, acknowledged that the graduates have gained a strong foundation through the 3MTT training but encouraged them to further develop a digital mindset.
