The Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWSIEC) has extended the deadline for political parties to conduct their primaries for the upcoming local government elections.
According to a statement signed by the Chairman of KWSIEC, Muhammed Baba Okanla, the new deadline is now Thursday, July 4, 2024.
The initial deadline was Sunday, June 30, 2024, but the commission yielded to appeals from various political parties for more time to conduct their primaries.
The statement assured that any further adjustments to the election timetable will be communicated to the public as necessary.
This development is expected to give political parties more time to conclude their primaries and prepare for the local government elections.
