Oluwasegun Olaoye Foundation Empowers Farmers, Widows In Kwara

The Oluwasegun Olaoye Foundation has empowered 300 people in the Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, donating cash support and farm tools to farmers and widows. The event, held at the Ijomu Oro Community Center, was attended by political leaders, religious leaders, and members of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

The empowerment program, sponsored by Hon. Segun Olaoye, the Babalaje of Oro Kingdom, aimed to improve food security and support local communities. Thirty-three (33) farmers from the 11 wards of Irepodun Local Government Area received farm tools and equipment, including seedlings, and fertilizers, to aid their farming activities and improve food security within the locals.

The foundation also extended its empowerment to at least 3 people from the 11 communities in the Oro Kingdom, irrespective of the intervention in the Irepodun Local Government Area. About 40 people from Ijomu Oro also received empowerment, including cash support and business grants.

In addition, the foundation provided cash support to widows and young people, aligning with its goals to support localities, women, and young people. The cash support is aimed at helping widows and young people to start or boost their businesses, thereby becoming self-reliant.

Hon. Segun Olaoye, the founder of the foundation, promised that the organization will continue to support the people of Irepodun Local Government Area and Kwara South, saying, “Today’s empowerment is just a tip from an iceberg. We’ll be rolling out more mega empowerment in coming days.”

He commended the people of Ijomu Oro for hosting the event and appreciated all stakeholders and party leaders for their presence and support. Hon. Sulaimon Kehinde (Guba) noted that the foundation is committed to giving back to the people and humanity, which has been evident in various interventions the foundation has made over the years.

Chief Raheem Adedoyin, the Oloriewe of Oro Kingdom, lauded the founder of the foundation for the timely intervention, noting that the best moment an empowerment of such magnitude will be truly appreciated is during this particular farming season where farmers are planning to storm the farm to embark on farming activities.

The Oloriewe added that the founder has distinguished himself through the intervention, which is a collaborative effort in supporting the government in improving food security. “Governor AbdulRazaq, who is the leader in the state and party, will be very happy with this intervention. It’s truly commendable and noteworthy,” he said.

Beneficiaries of the empowerment program expressed their gratitude to the foundation, saying the support will go a long way in improving their lives. One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Elizabeth Adeyemi, a widow, said, “I am so grateful for this support. It will help me to start a business and take care of my children.”

Another beneficiary, Mr. Alaba, a farmer, said, “This support is timely. It will help me to increase my farm production and improve my livelihood.”

The event was a confirmation of the foundation’s commitment to supporting the local community and improving the lives of the people in Kwara State.

With this empowerment program, the Oluwasegun Olaoye Foundation has demonstrated its dedication to making a positive impact in the lives of the people in the state.

The foundation’s efforts have been hailed as a model for community development, and its impact is expected to be felt for a long time in the lives of the people in Irepodun Local Government Area and beyond.
