IGBOMINA YOUTH ASSEMBLY Commends Kwara Gov, Provost Lamidi For Development Strides



•• Laud Gov AbdulRazaq’s Commitment to Youth Development and Education

The Igbomina Youth Assembly has commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq for his commitment to youth development and education, particularly in the appointment of competent individuals to positions of authority.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Igbomina House, Ganmo, on Friday, August 16, 2024, the group under the leadership of Engr Jimoh Rasheed Temitope praised Gov AbdulRazaq’s positive disposition towards youths and their development.

The assembly specifically lauded the governor’s decision to establish the College of Nursing Sciences, Oke-Ode, which has brought significant development to the host community. They appreciated the appointment of Mr. Quadri Olanrewaju Lamidi as the College Provost, describing it as a blessing to the college and the community.

The group highlighted the numerous achievements of Provost Lamidi since his assumption of office in October 2022, including:-

1. Commencement of computer-based test (CBT) for students’ examinations within the campus.
2. Establishment of two additional schools (the School of Midwifery and the School of Public Health Nursing) in the college.
3. Procurement of a coaster bus for mobilization of students on clinical postings.
4. Installation of solar power facilities to augment electricity supply on campus.
5. Appointment of qualified lecturers to provide standard training to the students.
6. Completion of the abandoned water project and the two blocks of classrooms donated by the Oke-Ode community, which are now at 90% completion.
7. Conduct of two successful major accreditations in the College with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria and the National Board for Technical Education.
8. Construction of a befitting football field and provision of other sporting facilities to enhance the extra-curricular activities of the students and staffs.
9. Inclusion of the College entry on the UTME list of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board.
10. Refurbishment of hostel for students at the Kwara State Specialist Hospital, Oke-Ode.

They emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation among all members of the college to guarantee peace and sustainable development that can deliver educational excellence.

“We want His Excellency to note that shock of lost of the bid to host the Kwara State University of Education in Igbomina Land is still being felt in our system; thus, it becomes imperative that we guide, monitor and protect the few ones we have at hand” the group added.

The Igbomina Youth Assembly called on Governor AbdulRazaq to continue supporting the current leadership of the college under Provost Lamidi to ensure sustainability of the development being enjoyed by the college and the host community.

They added that the Gov’s continued support will empower the Provost to keep promoting the good work of his administration in the institution.


“Finally, we call on all staff of the College of Nursing, Oke-Ode, to please cooperate fully with the leadership of the College under Mr. Quadri Olanrewaju Lamidi in the ongoing efforts to advance the status and reputation of the College. It is the unity and cooperation of all members of the College that can guarantee peace and sustainable development that can deliver educational excellence.” they added.

The group expressed profound gratitude to Governor AbdulRazaq for his untiring efforts and commitment to the development of Kwara State.
