Kwara LG Polls: Amofin Akogun Rallies Support For PDP Candidates

In the build up towards the forthcoming Local Government polls in Kwara State, the founder of BTA Foundation has drum support for the PDP Candidates in the Irepodun Local Government Area.

Akogun expressed disappointment and frustration at the lack of progress of the current ruling APC party since 2019 while citing that the best alternative now is for people to support the leading opposition party, PDP massively in the 21st September LG Polls.

This development was confirmed in a press release made available to the media titled “Are We Making Progress?” by the Omu-Aran born legal practitioner, Barrister Titilope Akogun
President, BTA Foundation.

The statement reads;

“As I reflect on the past few years, I’m forced to ask: are we not still stuck in the same spot since 2019? Before the last general elections, I was filled with hope for a government that would bring creativity and development to our state. I believed our kinsmen, whom we worked with as “Otoge Ambassadors,” had the ideas and vision to liberate us from the status quo. But here we are, and I’m left wondering… what has changed?

Unemployment remains high, with our youth roaming the streets, many forced into menial jobs due to poverty and hunger. Our farmers still lack adequate support, with only meager handouts when states like Niger are embracing mechanized farming to empower farmers and enhance food availability. Our market women continue to struggle alone, without any meaningful assistance. If we want improvement, we must be willing to drive change ourselves. We need new leaders who are creative, capable, and committed to addressing the issues that have held us back for decades. We deserve better.

However, the Local Councils are closest to us, and our destinies are tied to their success. If we get it right, many lives will be transformed; if we fail, many will remain in poverty. He added.

I’ve examined the PDP candidates’ manifestos, and I see hope. Their vision for Irepodun Farms, improved workers’ welfare, and enhanced markets and farm produce processing hubs gives me confidence. We’ve had five years of APC leadership, and it’s time for a change. I urge you to stand with hope, stand with PDP, and vote for a better future. The outcome of the next election will be a reflection of our decisions for the next 3-4 years. Let’s choose progress, Akogun said.
