The Deputy Senate Leader and Senator representing Kwara South, Arc Lola Yisa Ashiru has brought his much-anticipated one-week health intervention programme to the people of Iloffa in Oke Ero Local Government Area.
The programme, which has been making significant strides across the senatorial district, landed today, 30th August 2024, at the Iloffa Cottage Hospital, marking the second medical outreach in the series. Today’s medical outreach in Iloffa follows a similar initiative held in Oke-Onigbin, Isin Local Government, on the 28th of August.
At the medical outreach held in Iloffa, the medical team, led by Dr. Abdullahi Musa Olatunji, provided much needed medical consultation and medications to attendees.
This health initiative is a collaborative effort, facilitated in partnership with the National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA) and Ambidextrous General Contracting Ltd.
Senator Ashiru’s initiative is geared towards reaching underserved populations who often face significant barriers to accessing quality healthcare.
The first phase of the programme commenced on the 27th of August at the OMDA Multi-purpose Hall in Offa. This event was particularly aimed at the aged population within the Offa/Ifelodun/Oyun Federal Constituency and featured a Geriatrics Training session. The session focused on educating participants on effective strategies to manage the health of elderly individuals, addressing common geriatric issues such as chronic diseases, mobility challenges, and nutritional needs.
As part of the concluding activities, the programme will see the distribution of wheelchairs to People With Disabilities (PWDs) at Monarch Hotel in Ganmo tomorrow, 31st of August.
On the same day, an extensive supply of medical equipment and drugs will be delivered to several key healthcare centres across the district. These include:
1. Iloffa Cottage Hospital
2. Isanlu Isin Primary Health Centre, Oke Ibukun
3. Ganmo Basic Health Centre
4. Owode Market Health Centre in Offa
5. Moremi Health Centre in Offa
Senator Ashiru’s one-week health intervention programme has been lauded by constituents and health professionals alike for its timely and impactful approach to addressing the health challenges within Kwara South.
As the programme progresses, it reinstates the Senator’s commitment to improving healthcare access and outcomes for his constituents, particularly in rural areas where such services are most needed.
The initiative not only provides immediate medical relief but also fosters long-term health education and awareness, ensuring that the benefits of the programme extend well beyond the week-long event.
