Kwara Free Summer Coding and Digital Literacy Program Concludes With Resounding Success

The Kwara Free Summer Coding and Digital Literacy Bootcamp 2024 came to a glorious close with an impressive exhibition, graduation, and awards presentation ceremony, showcasing the exceptional talents of young participants.

The well-attended event, held at E-Phoenix Hotel Annex II, GRA, Ilorin, had in attendance dignitaries including the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Malam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, represented by the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu; Special Adviser on Education, Dr. Adetola Ayirike Salau; and other stakeholders.

Delivering the keynote address, Hon. Ishola Kayode, Special Assistant on Digital Innovation to Kwara State Governor, emphasized the significance of the program.

In his words; “Today marks a significant milestone in our journey to empower Kwara’s youth with digital skills. This program is a testament to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s commitment to building a digitally inclusive Kwara.”

Welcoming participants, partners, and stakeholders, He emphasized the program’s impact on Kwara’s digital future.

“This event marks the culmination of a journey that showcases the immense potential of our youth and the boundless opportunities that digital literacy and technology can unlock. In a world where the language of innovation is code, and where the future is shaped by technology, we must equip our young people with the tools they need to compete on a global scale.” He added.

The Kwara Free Summer Coding and Digital Literacy Bootcamp 2024 is a flagship program of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration, aimed at equipping Kwara’s youth with digital skills to compete globally.

The program empowers students to innovate, create, and problem-solve, preparing them for technology careers and leadership roles.

Alhassan Aberi Ali, a participant said; “This program has given me an edge in pursuing my career in computer engineering.”

AbdulRahman Maryam, said; “I’ve gained immensely and am ready to apply my skills as a solution solver.”

The event also featured presentations of awards, gifts and certificates with top performers received laptops and cash prizes:

  • Best Innovator: Alli Alhassan (N100,000 cheque)
  • Best Team Collaborator: Team Robotics (Animal Kingdom, N100,000 cheque)
  • Best Future Engineer Award: E-Commerce Team (N100,000 cheque)
  • Good Award: Team Traffic Light (N100,000 cheque)
  • Other winning teams received laptops

Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu commended the program’s impact,

She said; “I’m overwhelmed by the outstanding performance of participants.

This program demonstrates Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s investment in empowering Kwara’s youth with ICT skills to compete globally.” she added.

In his words; “We congratulate the successful beneficiaries and commend the Kwara State Government for this lofty initiative. We extend our partnership hands to collaborate on future projects.”

On her part, Dr. Adetola Ayirike Salau expressed satisfaction, noting that the program has birthed a new set of innovators ready to showcase their skills.

“The AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq led administration is committed to supporting digital literacy initiatives that empower Kwara’s youth.” She added.

The bootcamp had 6 centers across Kwara State participated in the program, with over 100 students benefitted from the bootcamp.

The Kwara Free Summer Coding and Digital Literacy Bootcamp 2024 has ignited a brighter future for Kwara’s youth, empowering them to innovate, create, and thrive in a technology-driven world.
