President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday launched the 2025 Armed Forces of Nigeria Remembrance Day emblem and appeal fund.
Launching the emblem at the Council Chamber in the State House in Abuja, the President commended the Armed forces for their role as the first line of defence in protecting the country.
He commended the patriotic commitment of the Armed forces to Nigeria’s unity, stability and progress, stating that it would be impossible to promote peace and development without security.
In his remarks, President Tinubu hailed the Nigerian armed forces for their dedication and sacrifice in securing the nation.
He stressed the importance of providing a safe and secure environment, free from threats and criminal activities, where all residents can flourish and live in peace.
According to Tinubu, Nigerians owe a debt of gratitude to the gallant troops who have risen to the challenge of securing the nation.
In appreciation of the efforts of fallen heroes to national security, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF George Akume announced a donation of N500m on behalf of the Executives.
President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio on behalf of the National Assembly made the donation of N200m.
The Chief Defence of Staff, Christopher Musa also announced donations of N50m on behalf of Service Chiefs and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetoken.
The Emblem Appeal launch is an annual event in preparations for the Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
It serves as a reminder of the nation’s commitment to honouring its heroes and supporting veterans and their families.
