••• Set To Commission 240-capacity Locally Engineered Students Hall of Residence

Nigeria’s leading light in Science, Technology, Engineering, Medicine and Innovation ecosystem, Thomas Adewumi University (TAU), is set to hold its maiden convocation ceremony.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Francisca Oladipo disclosed this on Friday during Convocation Press Briefing in Oko-Irese.
According to her, the prestigious event will mark a significant milestone in the university’s history, celebrating its first graduating class and showcasing its achievements in just over three and a half years.
The ceremony, scheduled to take place from Friday, November 22nd to Tuesday, November 26th, 2024, will be graced by esteemed dignitaries, including His Excellency Governor Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, the Executive Governor of Oyo State. Governor Makinde will deliver the convocation lecture titled “The Fourth Industrial Revolution and the Future of Work: Implications for Nigerian Graduates.”
In her words;
Since the official license by the Federal Government in April 2021, TAU has grown remarkably. The university boasts a 100% FULL accreditation record by the National Universities Commission (NUC) for all its academic programs. It has expanded its offerings from the initial 13 to 27 programs across seven faculties, including the newly established Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Law, and Faculty of Nursing Sciences.
Prof Oladipo said, this year’s convocation ceremony celebrates the University’s pioneering students, with 26 graduates set to receive their degrees in various disciplines.
“All graduates have met the rigorous academic standards set by the university, which includes acquiring a minimum of two International ICT Certifications offered by Google, IBM, Coursera, and other global partners. This focus on innovation equips graduates with the skills and knowledge to address contemporary challenges, She added
TAU prioritizes sustainability, evidenced by its 214KW solar farm, extensive use of fibre optics for internet connectivity, and locally sourced materials for infrastructure development. The university also champions community service by offering scholarships, conducting medical outreaches, and establishing a physiotherapy clinic to serve neighboring communities.
Prof Oladipo, further revealed the Varsity’s future ambitious plans, which include establishing a Medical School by September 2025, creating a School of Postgraduate Studies, and investing in more sustainable infrastructure.
She noted that a 240-capacity locally engineered students Hall of Residence will be commissioned after the convocation.
