The Kwara State Government’s 3 Million Technical Talents (3MTT) initiative has marked a significant milestone with the graduation and hackathon session for Cohort 2.
The event, held over the weekend, underscored the state’s commitment to digital literacy, innovation, and economic growth.
The 3MTT program, a federal government initiative, aims to cultivate a digitally skilled workforce.
Kwara State was among the first to embrace this vision, launching an intensive registration and sensitization campaign across all 16 local government areas.
Recall, 9japarrot report Cohort 1 has already produced its first set of graduates, and Cohort 2 now joins their ranks.
The graduation ceremony and hackathon, themed “Driving Tech Innovation in Kwara,” brought together key stakeholders, including government officials, industry experts, and talented young innovators. The event featured a panel discussion, raffle draws for tech creatives, and a captivating hackathon product demo.
The hackathon winners were rewarded for their innovative solutions, with the first prize amounting to N500,000, followed by N200,000 and N100,000 for the second and third positions, respectively.
Hon. Aliyu Kora Sabi, Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development, emphasized the transformative potential of digital innovation. He highlighted its role in creating jobs, enhancing security, improving government efficiency, and reducing corruption.
Kayode Ishola, Special Assistant to the Governor on Digital Innovations, expressed gratitude to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his unwavering support of digital transformation.
He also acknowledged the state government’s efforts in providing laptops to tech talents and launching the Kwara Digital Economy Portal.
In his remarks;
“Today marks yet another significant milestone in our journey toward positioning Kwara State as a leading hub for technological innovation and excellence,” he said.
“I thank Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, our visionary leader, for his unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, and passion for driving innovation that has laid the foundation for the strides we are celebrating today.
“Under His Excellency’s guidance, Kwara State is steadily becoming a beacon of digital transformation and a model for other states to emulate. For context, Kwara State is the only state that held an elaborate graduation program and Hackathon for graduating fellows of cohort 1.”
Dr. Habeeb Salahudeen, Chief Technology Officer at ALVEUM, delivered a keynote speech on “Shaping the Future: Using Tech for Sustainable Innovation in Kwara.” He stressed the importance of people, partnerships, and purpose in driving innovation and urged policymakers to create an enabling environment for technological advancements.
