The Congress of Nigeria Youth Leaders (CONYL) has thrown its weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term ambition, praising his administration’s strides in education and economic stability.
At a press conference held in Ilorin on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, Hon. Yinka Dallas, convener and national coordinator of CONYL, stated that President Tinubu’s administration had made significant progress in the education sector.
He highlighted the establishment of the National Education Data System, which, according to him, aims to improve learning and skill development, increase enrollment, and ensure academic security.
He explained that the system provides real-time data on student performance, attendance, and other educational metrics, enabling policymakers to make informed decisions.
Dallas also commended the introduction of a student loan program under Tinubu’s administration, describing it as a significant step toward supporting undergraduate students in public universities.
He stated that the initiative provides financial assistance to deserving students, allowing them to pursue their academic goals without financial burdens.
Speaking on youth development, Dallas lauded the efforts of the Minister of Youth Development, Hon. Olawande Ayobami, in implementing various programs aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and employability.
He mentioned initiatives such as vocational training, mentorship programs, and start-up funding for young entrepreneurs as key drivers of youth empowerment under the administration.
Arc Lamidi Akanbi, CONYL’s regional coordinator for North Central, also spoke at the press conference, commending President Tinubu’s economic policies.
He asserted that the administration’s implementation of the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) had contributed to stabilizing the economy.
He added that the government’s investments in infrastructure, including roads, railways, and energy projects, had significantly improved the business environment, boosted economic activity, and created employment opportunities.
Akanbi further noted that President Tinubu’s administration had introduced policies to promote entrepreneurship and support Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
According to him, initiatives such as access to funding, business training, and regulatory support had provided Nigerian entrepreneurs with the tools needed to thrive.
Dallas also acknowledged the contributions of Seyi Tinubu, the President’s son, towards youth empowerment.
He pointed out that Seyi Tinubu had implemented various initiatives, including vocational training, mentorship programs, and start-up funding, which had benefited many young Nigerians.
Additionally, he highlighted Seyi Tinubu’s support for education initiatives such as scholarship programs, infrastructure development, and the provision of educational resources for disadvantaged students.
In his remarks, Dallas praised the performance of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in Kwara State, describing him as a leader committed to youth development and economic growth.
The group expressed confidence that the President’s policies and initiatives would continue to impact Nigerian youths positively.
