INEC Rejects Petition To Recall Senator Natasha

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed the petition seeking to recall Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the senator representing Kogi Central, citing failure to meet constitutional requirements.

In a statement issued on Thursday, INEC referenced Section 69(a) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which sets the legal conditions for recalling a lawmaker. The electoral body confirmed that the petition did not fulfill these requirements, effectively nullifying the recall attempt.

This development brings relief to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s supporters, while her opponents may explore alternative legal or political avenues.
