Amofin Akogun Mourns Death Of Elder Statesman, Cornelius Olatunji Adebayo

The founder of BTA Foundation Amofin Titilope Akogun has mourned the death of the elder stateman and former Kwara Governor, Cornelius Olatunji Adeboye.

The Omuaran legal born practitioner said in a statement received by 9japarrot the death of the elder stateman is a great loss to the Kwara State and Nigeria at large.

The statement reads;

With deep sorrow and a heavy heart, I join the good people of Kwara State and Nigeria at large to mourn the passing of His Excellency Cornelius Olatunji Adebayo, a statesman, patriot, and elder whose legacy will remain etched in the annals of our nation’s democratic journey.

Aged 84, His Excellency passed away peacefully in Abuja, as confirmed by family sources.

HE Adebayo served our people with distinction as a Senator under the Unity Party of Nigeria in 1979, Governor of Kwara State in 1983, and later as Minister of Communications from 2003 to 2006.

Beyond titles and positions, he was a courageous voice for democracy.

As a committed member of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), he stood firm in the struggle to actualize the June 12 mandate of MKO Abiola. His refusal to serve under the Abacha regime, his unjust arrest, and subsequent exile exemplify the price he paid for justice, truth, and democratic ideals.

Nigeria has lost a pillar of integrity, and Kwara has lost a father figure. We take solace in the knowledge that his was a life of impact, courage, and selfless service.

On behalf of myself and the BTA Family, I extend our deepest condolences to his family, the people of Kwara, and all Nigerians mourning this irreparable loss.

May the soul of this great hero rest in perfect peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire generations to come.

Amofin Titilope Akogun
President, BTA Foundation
