TETFund Board Member, Adeyemi Hails Tinubu, AbdulRazaq Over New Tax Reforms

A member of the Board of Trustees of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing the new tax reform bills into law, describing it as a strategic move to modernize Nigeria’s fiscal architecture.

Engr. Adeyemi also extended strong commendation to the Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his unifying leadership in steering the governors to support the legislative process.

In a statement released in Ilorin on Thursday, Adeyemi, who is the founder of the ENACT group, noted that the reforms are a significant milestone in the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“This is not just a legislative achievement, it is a bold and strategic move to modernize Nigeria’s fiscal architecture, improve revenue efficiency, and promote economic inclusiveness and sustainability,” Adeyemi said.

He singled out Governor AbdulRazaq’s leadership of the NGF as critical to the successful passage of the bills, stating that his foresight was instrumental at a critical juncture.

According to Adeyemi, “It was the NGF through Governor AbdulRazaq’s quiet strength, strategic foresight, and unifying leadership that provided the clarity, coordination, and statesmanship needed to rescue and support the tax reform process.”

The TETFUND board member highlighted the specific advocacy roles played by the governors under AbdulRazaq, which ensured that the reforms were equitable.

“The NGF’s advocacy for an equitable VAT sharing formula, protection of essential goods, and safeguarding of development institutions like TETFUND, NITDA, and NASENI shows their deep commitment to both national growth and grassroots welfare,” he stated.

Adeyemi added that the successful collaboration between the Presidency and the governors serves as a model for national progress.

“Governor AbdulRazaq’s role in this process is a shining example of how subnational leadership can influence national outcomes for the greater good. As a member of the TETFUND board, I am proud to salute this exemplary display of leadership,” he concluded.
