The Senator for Abia North District, Distinguished Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu, has raised the hopes of Nigerians and fans of Super Eagles, worldwide, by declaring that the chances are high, for the Super Eagles to qualify and play at the world cup finals, in 2026.

The Senator, made this assertion, while fielding questions, from newsmen, on Saturday 4th October 2025, at his residence.

Senator Kalu, who earned the title of Pillar of Sports, in Africa, following his monumental achievements with Enyimba Footbal club of Aba, during his tenure as Governor of that Eastern commerical State. The record he set, twenty years ago, by winning the CAF Champions League, back to back, with Enyimba FC, is yet to be matched, by any Nigerian Club side, till date.

Apart from raising the hopes of the Super Eagles and her super fans, Sen. Kalu, had an advice for the coach and management of the Super Eagles, and he stated that the coach should discard all previous formations, be it “4-2-4, 4-4-2 or even 4-5-1,” and rather deploy the massive attack, massive defense technique, in their coming game.

Sen. Kalu averred that the chance created for Super Eagles, through the point deduction slammed on the Bafana Bafana of South Africa, should be maximised to the full, because Nigeria cannot afford to miss the world cup yet again, as it would be one miss too many.

Recall, that the South African National team, the Bafana Bafana, recently had 3 points and goals deducted from their standings, as penalty for fielding an qualified player, and this has dominated the discussion among soccer pundits, prompting the Sports loving Sen. Kalu to weigh in, on the matter, as someone very familiar with the football terrain.
