The Distinguished Senator representing Kwara North Senatorial District, Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar, has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to people-driven development as he embarked on a constituency tour of Baruten Local Government Area, during which he commissioned and inspected key signature projects facilitated by him and already serving the people.

Among the projects commissioned during the visit were the Mega Farmers’ Warehouse in Okuta, the Yashikira Town Hall Building, and the Ilesha-Baruba Palace Office, while the Senator also visited the Gwanara Town Hall, one of several town halls constructed across the constituency to strengthen grassroots governance and community cohesion.

The commissioned projects stand as lasting interventions aimed at boosting agricultural productivity, strengthening traditional institutions, promoting community engagement, and improving the overall socio-economic well-being of the people of Baruten LGA to complement the efforts of the Kwara State Government under the able leadership of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, CON.

Speaking during the commissioning of the Okuta Farmers’ Mega Warehouse, the Secretary of the Baruten Farmers Association, speaking on behalf of farmers across the Local Government, expressed deep appreciation to Senator Sadiq for responding to what he described as a clarion call from farmers in the area. He noted that the farmers had specifically requested the siting of the warehouse in Baruten to address the persistent challenge of post-harvest losses.

According to him, the Senator not only listened but acted decisively by facilitating the construction of the facility, which now provides farmers with a secure storage solution for their produce, enhances value preservation, and strengthens food security in the area.

The Yashikira Town Hall, also commissioned during the visit, has continued to serve as a vital hub for community engagement, social interactions, and key communal activities, fostering unity and strengthening bonds among residents. Similarly, the Gwanara Town Hall and others facilitated by the Senator, remain strategic town hall projects executed to deepen grassroots participation and inclusive governance across Kwara North.

In addition, the commissioning of the Ilesha Palace Office underscores Senator Sadiq’s respect for traditional institutions and his recognition of their critical role in community leadership, conflict resolution, and social stability.

With over 300 projects and programmes implemented across Kwara North within seven years of representation, Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar’s impact remains visible and deeply felt across communities. Residents of Baruten LGA continue to offer prayers of gratitude to Almighty Allah for blessing them with a leader widely regarded as compassionate, responsive, and genuinely people-oriented.

The visit further reaffirmed Senator Sadiq’s resolve to sustain inclusive development and ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every corner of Kwara North Senatorial District.
