The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, has resigned his membership from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately.
The resignation, announced in a letter obtained by 9japarrot media and addressed to the PDP Chairman in Ward 2, Ede Local Government, was attributed to the current crisis of the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Governor Adeleke, who secured his election as both a Senator (representing Osun West) and as the Governor of Osun State under the party’s banner, confirmed his departure from the PDP on Monday.
The letter, personally signed by the Governor, reads:
RESIGNATION OF MY MEMBERSHIP OF THE PEOPLE’S DEMOCRATIC PARTY (PDP)
Due to the current crisis of the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my Membership of the People’s Democratic Party with immediate effect.
I thank the People’s Democratic Party for the opportunities given to me for my elections as a Senator (Represented Osun West) and as Governor of Osun State under the People’s Democratic Party.
Warm Regards
Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke
Governor, Osun State
9japarrot reports that the resignation comes amidst confirmed internal turmoil within the PDP, which has recently seen deep divisions, legal battles, and conflicts over the composition and direction of the party’s national leadership ahead of its scheduled 2025 National Convention.
This development has significant implications for the political landscape in Osun State and the national PDP.
