D-8 Nations Signal Intent to Participate as KWACCIMA Elevates Kwara Trade Fair to International Status

Member countries of the D-8 have signalled their interest to participate in the forthcoming 12th Kwara Trade Fair, Chairman of the event and 1st Deputy President of the Kwara Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KWACCIMA), Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Sani, has revealed.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, December 1, 2025 in Ganmo, Alhaji Sani said the fair committee extended invitation to the global body in its bid to elevate the status of the Kwara Trade Fair from a national exhibition to an international one.

He noted that international exhibitors are expected from Turkey, Egypt, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Iran, and Pakistan, widening the appeal the Kwara Trade Fair has enjoyed over the years.

“We are happy to inform you that some of these countries have given us their green light of participating at the Kwara Trade Fair,” he stated.

The Kwara Trade Fair is an annual business expo organised by KWACCIMA, the umbrella body for the organised private sector in the state. The 2025 edition will hold from December 5th to 15th at the Kwara Stadium Complex, Ilorin, from 8:00am to 6:00pm daily.

The KWACCIMA chief invited business organisations across Nigeria, including federal and state-owned corporations, local governments, agencies and parastatals, research and educational institutions, artisans and nano, micro, small, medium and large scale industries to participate at the fair.

“Exhibits will include ranges of servicing and consumable items in agriculture, mining, construction, industries, oil and gas, telecommunications, renewable energy, clothing, cosmetics, and other fashion products, as well as different lines of consultancy services,” according to Alhaji Sani.

“To add glamour to the 12th Kwara Trade Fair, we have introduced incentives such as low participation cost for exhibitors, free entry for visitors, business grants, business seminars, talent hunt, musical concerts, and children’s fun fair arena.”

The 11-day event is themed “Empowering Local Entrepreneurs for Global Competitiveness”.

Alhaji Sani said the choice of the theme reflects KWACCIMA’s belief that empowering local entrepreneurs for global markets is a key strategy for national economic growth and development.

“We need to provide the right support and resources to help our entrepreneurs succeed,” he noted.

Speaking further, Alhaji Sani said the main objective of the Kwara Trade Fair is to showcase the abundant natural and human resources waiting to be tapped for economic prosperity in Kwara State.

“We also want to create prospects for foreign and local private investments and collaborations in strategic areas.”

KWACCIMA commended the state government under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for its constant support towards the success of the trade fair and the entire business community.

He also extended appreciation to the State Ministry of Business, Innovation and Technology and all other stakeholders in the state and across the nation for their commitment, cooperation and selfless service.
