The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has called on the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) to leverage film productions as a powerful tool for promoting Nigerian values, rich cultural heritage, and a strong national identity, while also projecting the country positively on the global stage.
Speaking while receiving a delegation from the FCT Chapter of AMP, the Director General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, stressed that the creative industry plays a vital role in shaping public perception, influencing societal behaviour, and fostering national unity, noting that films have the power to inspire, educate, and reshape narratives, making them a strategic vehicle for value reorientation and national development.
He added that the NOA is set to collaborate with major players in the film industry to integrate its core messages into movie productions, citing the nationalisation of cartoon content which was earlier approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC), as one of the avenues to pursue achieve the agenda.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the FCT Chapter of the Association of Movie Producers (AMP), Mr Desmond Utomwen, commended the National Orientation Agency (NOA) for its unwavering commitment to value re-orientation, noting that the Agency’s messages continue to resonate both nationally and internationally.
He expressed AMP’s desire to collaborate with the NOA through purposeful storytelling, co-productions, and, most importantly, film-driven sensitisation campaigns that can positively shape public behaviour and national perception.
The engagement also featured the DG NOA presenting a souvenir containing the core values enshrined in the National Values Charter, which was earlier approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
