In a renewed commitment to youth development, women empowerment, and grassroots sports advancement, the Founder of ENACT Innovation Hub, Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi, has sponsored the 2026 Kwara State First Lady Women’s Football Championship in partnership with the Kwara State Sports Commission under the leadership of Coach Bolakale Adisa Mogaji.

The championship, organized in honour of the Wife of the Kwara State Governor, Her Excellency, Ambassador Dr. Olufolake AbdulRazaq, will serve as a major platform to promote women’s football while identifying emerging talents for the newly established Kwara United Queens Football Club.

The competition forms part of the strategic efforts to build a strong foundation for the state’s female football team ahead of upcoming league engagements. It will also function as a talent discovery and recruitment initiative aimed at assembling a competitive squad for the Kwara United Queens.

Speaking on the initiative, Engr. Adeyemi said the championship reflects a shared commitment to empowering young women through sports and creating opportunities for talented athletes across the region.

He noted that the tournament is designed not only to celebrate the remarkable contributions of Her Excellency, Ambassador Dr. Olufolake AbdulRazaq, to women development and social impact in Kwara State, but also to strengthen the pipeline of female football talents within the state and beyond.

Engr. Adeyemi also commended the visionary leadership of Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his unwavering support for sports development, particularly football, both at the grassroots and professional levels.

According to him, the Governor’s sustained investments and commitment to sports infrastructure, youth engagement, and the promotion of football in the state have continued to position Kwara as an emerging hub for sporting excellence in Nigeria.

“The administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has demonstrated a clear passion for sports as a tool for youth engagement, unity, and economic opportunity. This championship aligns with that vision by creating a platform for young female footballers to showcase their abilities and pursue professional careers,” he said.

The championship will feature teams from across different states such as Kwara, FCT Abuja, Kogi, Nigeria, Osun, Oyo, Ekiti, Lagos, and Ogun, and will hold in Ilorin, bringing together young female footballers in a competitive environment that encourages excellence, teamwork, and professional growth.

Stakeholders believe the competition will significantly contribute to the development of women’s football in Kwara State while strengthening the newly formed Kwara United Queens Football Club as it prepares for the forthcoming football season.

The finals and closing ceremony are expected to attract sports administrators, football enthusiasts, youth leaders, and dignitaries who share a passion for advancing women’s participation in sports.

The initiative further underscores the growing collaboration between private sector stakeholders and government institutions in expanding opportunities for young talents in Kwara State.
