•• Pledges People- Oriented Representation

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State and the Founder of Giwa Foundation, Hon. Giwa Muzemil Kehinde, popularly known as GMK has declared his intention to contest for the Kwara State House of Assembly seat to represent Ojomu/Balogun Constituency in the 2027 general election.
This development was confirmed in a statement made available to 9japarrot media on Thursday.
GMK, who is also the Amirush-Shabab (Leader of the Youth) of Offa, said his decision was informed by a deep understanding of the gaps in effective representation and service delivery at the grassroots.
He stressed that the time had come to translate his years of community engagement into legislative action.
Addressing supporters, the aspirant introduced himself as a member of the Giwa family from Ilesanmi, Offa, noting that his roots span Ile Olalemi on his father’s side and Ile Ajia Lade in Ojomu South East Ward through his mother.
He traced his educational journey to Wesley Primary School, Offa, after which he attended Offa Grammar School (OGS) and later completed his secondary education at Offa Community Secondary School.
He subsequently obtained a National Diploma from Kwara State Polytechnic before proceeding to the University of Maiduguri, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration.
Reflecting on his student years, GMK highlighted his early leadership exposure, having served as a faculty executive secretary, President of the National Association of Kwara State Students (NAKSS), University of Maiduguri Chapter, and later President of the Offa Students Union (OSU) in the same institution.
In politics, he recalled his tenure as Councillor representing Ojomu Central B Ward between 2013 and 2016 during the administration of former Offa Local Government Chairman, Prince Olusegun Olanipekun.
According to him, he was recognised twice within the period as the best councillor in the local government.
The APC aspirant also spoke on his philanthropic strides, particularly the establishment of the Giwa Foundation about two years ago.
He said the initiative was inspired by his upbringing and the legacy of his father, who was part of the joint committee that founded Offa Grammar School (OGS) which is the earliest community schools in the old Northern Region.
He noted that the foundation focuses on supporting widows, the aged, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups, adding that it has sponsored 106 candidates for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination and paid West African Examinations Council (WAEC) fees for six students.
GMK also serves as Executive Director at GUAB Integrated Global Enterprises, a firm involved in taxation and construction.
He pledged to prioritise education, healthcare, infrastructure and youth empowerment if elected, assuring constituents of people-oriented representation.
“My aspiration is driven by a genuine desire to be a strong voice for the people, ensuring that their needs, concerns and aspirations are adequately represented and addressed,” he said.
He further promised to promote unity across Ojomu/Balogun Constituency, emphasising transparency, accountability and inclusive governance.
“With collective support, we can build a stronger and more prosperous constituency,” he added.
