Insecurity: Hon. Olasumbo Oyeyemi Condemns Abduction of Four Girls in Idofin Igbana, Calls for Urgent Action

A leading aspirant for the Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency, Hon. Chief (Mrs.) Olasumbo Florence Oyeyemi, has expressed heartfelt sympathy and prayers to the people of Idofin Igbana in Oke-Ero Local Government Area of Kwara State, following the tragic abduction of four girls by suspected bandits.

In a statement signed by her and made available to 9japarrot on Sunday, Oyeyemi described the incident as “deeply saddening and an affront to the peace and security of the constituency.”
While expressing solidarity with the affected families, she appealed directly to the Kwara State Government and security agencies to treat the rescue of the victims with the utmost urgency.

“The safety of our daughters is non-negotiable. I urge His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, alongside the Nigeria Police Force and other security stakeholders, to mobilise all necessary resources to rescue these girls and bring the perpetrators to justice,” she said.

The APC chieftain further advocated for a comprehensive and sustained strategy to curb the rising wave of banditry across the state, noting that the activities of criminals have instilled fear in farmers and school children.

She said, “Banditry threatens the foundation of our communities. Our farmers cannot go to their farms, our children cannot go to school in peace, and our people live in fear. This must end. We need proactive measures, not just reactions.”

Oyeyemi called for an increased security presence in vulnerable communities, improved intelligence-led operations, and stronger collaboration between the government, traditional institutions, and local vigilante groups.

Reaffirming her commitment to championing policies that prioritize the protection of lives and property, she urged residents of the federal constituency to remain vigilant and provide security agencies with credible information to aid ongoing operations.

“Our prayers are with the families, and our voices will remain active until these girls are returned safely. The security of the Kwara people must be treated as a top priority,” she concluded.
