Once again, the distinguished senator representing Abia North has demonstrated what genuine investment in human capital looks like. Two bright young constituents from his senatorial district—Offor Basil Chiadikaobi of Umunneochi LGA and Igwe Samuel Isaiah of Bende LGA—are currently in China, participating in the prestigious Training Programme on Opening-Up and Economic Cooperation for Belt and Road Countries.
This is no one-off gesture. The beneficiaries are part of the latest batch of Abia youths carefully selected and sponsored through the senator’s office under this high-impact international capacity-building initiative. While others talk about “youth development,” Senator Kalu continues to walk the talk—quietly opening doors to the world’s second-largest economy and one of its most transformative development models.
What makes this initiative particularly praiseworthy is its strategic focus. The Belt and Road training programme is not mere tourism or academic tourism; it is a deliberate exposure to cutting-edge ideas in economic cooperation, infrastructure development, trade, and innovation. By sending these young men to China, Senator Kalu is not just giving them certificates—he is arming them with practical knowledge that can be brought home to solve real problems in Abia State and Nigeria at large. In a country where millions of graduates remain unemployed or underemployed, this kind of forward-thinking intervention is nothing short of visionary.
The senator’s sustained commitment to human capital development, youth empowerment, and global exposure is evident in the consistency of these programmes. Abia North is witnessing a quiet revolution: young people who once saw limited prospects within their local government areas are now rubbing shoulders with global counterparts, learning best practices, and building networks that will outlive any single political cycle. Represent Abia North with pride, absorb every lesson, and return home ready to contribute to our collective development. The opportunity Senator Kalu has given you is rare; the expectation is that you will multiply it.
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has once again shown why he remains one of the most progressive voices in the National Assembly.
