_Analysing Abono’s Speech in Infrastructural Development, Day 5_

Hon. Ahmed Babajide Olanrewaju (Abono), a leading aspirant for the Irepodun Constituency seat in the Kwara State House of Assembly, has declared the rehabilitation of the Arandun-Rore-Ipetu-Aran-Orin road as his top infrastructural priority if elected in 2027.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Chieftain made this pledge while unveiling the final pillar of his “Covenant of Service,” describing the neglected axis as the vital artery of the constituency’s economic life.
Olanrewaju, a renowned ICT expert and Director at the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun, drew a technical parallel to his professional background, arguing that physical infrastructure serves as the essential “hardware” required to run the software of his proposed digital and agricultural reforms.
“We can talk about innovation hubs and modernized farming, but without a functional road network, our progress will remain stalled,” Olanrewaju stated.
“The Arandun-Rore-Ipetu-Aran-Orin road is more than just asphalt; it is the link between our farmers and their prosperity. Under my watch, we will move from seasonal repairs to total rehabilitation through aggressive legislative advocacy.”
The aspirant noted that his passion for community development is deeply rooted in his family heritage. He cited the four decades of philanthropy by his father, Alhaji Yusuff Olanrewaju (Sir K), who personally funded significant electrification and community projects in Arandun.
“I grew up watching my father invest in the people of this kingdom. That torch has now passed to me, and I will not let it fall.
If my father could use personal resources to bring light, I will use the power of the legislature to bring the roads and infrastructure that Irepodun deserves,” he added.
Abono emphasized that fixing the rural road network is a strategic move to unlock the constituency’s dormant potential. He argued that the current state of farm-access roads leads to immense post-harvest losses, which discourages youth participation in agriculture.
By prioritizing the Arandun-Rore-Ipetu-Aran-Orin axis, he aims to create a seamless “Agro-Corridor that allows produce to move swiftly from the soil to the market.
Olanrewaju further promised to maintain a people-first approach in the House of Assembly, ensuring that Irepodun’s share of the state’s developmental budget is directed toward high-impact projects.
