A distinguished legal luminary and respected Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Olasheni Ibiwoye, SAN, the Baa Mofin of Oro Kingdom, has formally signaled his entry into the Kwara State gubernatorial race under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking during an interview in Ilorin on Sunday, the Lagos-based legal icon stated that his decision to join the race is driven by a deep-seated commitment to the growth and transformation of Kwara State.
He emphasized that his aspiration is not merely political, but a call to service;an opportunity to deploy his wealth of experience, professional discipline, and strategic insight toward repositioning the state for sustainable development.
Chief Ibiwoye passionately urged Kwara indigenes, particularly professionals both at home and in the diaspora,to take an active interest in governance.
According to him, the future of the state cannot be left in the hands of a few, stressing that credible, competent, and visionary individuals must step forward to shape the political landscape and rescue it from mediocrity.
He further noted that Kwara State is richly endowed with both human and natural resources, lamenting that these potentials have not been fully harnessed.
He expressed confidence that, with the right leadership and purposeful governance, these resources can be effectively annexed and transformed into drivers of economic prosperity and social advancement.
Addressing concerns about the timing of his entry into the race, the seasoned lawyer explained that his decision followed extensive consultations with critical stakeholders, community leaders, and key figures across his senatorial district.
He described the move as a product of careful reflection and broad-based consensus.
Chief Ibiwoye also announced that his official declaration is scheduled to hold on Wednesday at the PDP Secretariat in Ilorin, an event expected to draw significant attention from party faithful, political stakeholders, and supporters across the state.
With his entry, many observers believe that the race has gained a formidable contender—one whose pedigree, intellect, and commitment to public service could redefine the trajectory of leadership in Kwara State.
