Prominent mobilizer and former chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Pillar Ayo Adepoju has officially defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Invoking the local Yoruba slogan “Oti Suwa” (We are tired), Hon. Adepoju slammed the current administration, describing the APC-led government as anti-people and inept. He lamented the rising tide of insecurity, contrasting the current state of affairs with the era of former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki.

“We are tired of a system that makes life unbearable for the common man,” Adepoju declared to the cheering crowd.

“During the time of Dr. Bukola Saraki, we never witnessed this level of persistent insecurity and banditry. The PDP remains the only viable and strong opposition platform capable of actualizing the dreams of Kwarans.” He said.

The defector noted that his move was primarily motivated by the leadership qualities of Dr. Bukola Saraki, whom he described as a visionary whose governance records remain a benchmark in Nigeria.

Adepoju, who moved with hundreds of supporters and his established political structures across the state, was formally received by the PDP State Working Committee (SWC) led by the Chairman, Hon. Adamu Issa Bawa.

The Kwara State PDP Chairman, Hon. Adamu Issa Bawa, while handing over the party’s flag to Adepoju, expressed confidence that the influx of high-profile defectors signals a turning point for the state.

“We are happy to welcome our brother into the family,” Bawa said, adding that the party is ready to provide the field for the aspirations of the future of Kwara state.

“The faces we see here today show that Kwarans are ready for a change in direction.” He added.

Also present at the ceremony was the Kwara South Senatorial Chairman, Rev. Cornelius Fawenu, who joined in welcoming the new entrants.

The event served as a major gathering for PDP stakeholders, featuring notable figures including; Engr. Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu Agaka (Dan-Iyan N’geri of Ilorin Emirate and Gubernatorial Aspirant), Hon. Saheed Popoola (Kwara South Senatorial Aspirant), Comrade Adio Odunjo (Kwara PDP Youth Leader), Oyun LG PDP Chairman and various district leaders, State Treasurer Hon. Samson Bada.

9japarrot reports that the launch of the Pillar Sarakite Movement represents a significant strategic boost for the PDP in Kwara South, particularly in Oyun LGA, as the party intensifies its grassroots mobilization to reclaim the state in the 2027 general elections.
