The Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode (MOK) Foundation has rolled out its latest round of farm support for growers across Kwara South, distributing agrochemicals, fertilizers, pesticides and knapsack sprayers to help communities prepare for the planting season.
Held in Omupo, Ifelodun Local Government Area, the event welcomed farmers from several towns within the zone. The supplies are meant to strengthen crop protection, improve productivity, and encourage sustainable farming practices as rains set in.
According to Alhaji Tunde Salahudeen, who coordinates the Foundation’s agricultural programs, this effort builds on nearly three years of consistent work in rural Kwara. “Weather disruptions delayed this year’s schedule, but we’ve broadened the reach so more farmers can benefit,” he said.
Past interventions by the Foundation have covered Offa, Oke-Ero, Omupo, Babanla, Wande, Ajengbe, and Lafiagi in Edu LG, among others. The current phase marks one of the widest coverage areas yet for Kwara South.
The Omupo distribution was carried out with oversight from traditional authorities, including HRH Oloyo of Eggi Oyoipo, Oba Abdulwahab Adisa Junaid and Eesa of Igbonla, who helped coordinate participation and ensure the process ran smoothly.
Beneficiaries welcomed the gesture. Mallam Ali Saidu said the inputs would ease the cost burden and improve yields, while Sanusi Aliu noted that the support gives farmers a better chance to grow and sustain their livelihoods.
Community leaders in Omupo also commended the Foundation for extending assistance to women through start-up grants alongside the farm inputs. They pledged continued cooperation, pointing to MOK’s track record of backing farming households in the region over the last year.
The MOK Foundation said the initiative is part of its wider commitment to food security and inclusive rural development, stressing that support is open to all farmers irrespective of background.
