The newly endorsed All Progressives Congress (APC) frontline gubernatorial hopeful for Kwara State, Ambassador Yahaya Seriki Gambari, has vowed to sustain and build upon the developmental footprints and progressive legacies of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq if elected in 2027.
Seriki made the commitment during an emotional appreciation visit to the Governor’s ancestral country home in Idigba, Adewole Ward, Ilorin, shortly after arriving in the state capital to a grand home welcome from thousands of party faithful and stakeholders.
Visibly moved to tears by the endorsement, the mining magnate turned diplomat assured party chieftains, state actors, and grassroots mobilizers that his mission is centered on continuity, structural transformation, and preserving the pro-people policies of the current administration.
Earlier, the declaration followed a grand, triumphal reception at the Tunde Idiagbon International Airport, Ilorin, which was grounded by ecstatic crowds, market associations, and various political pressure groups.
Our reporter noted that Seriki’s endorsement witnessed a shifting political alignment within the state’s ruling party as high-ranking progressive bigwigs, among which were federal lawmakers including Hon. Muktar Tolani Shagaya (Asa/Ilorin West), Hon. Tunji Olawuyi Ajuloopin representing Ekiti/Isin/Irepodun/Oke-Ero, alongside Hon. Sheriff Shagaya, Hon. Abdulquawiy Cook Olododo and the General Manager of the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASIPP), Dr. Tejidini Abdulwasiu Omana among others joined his convoy.
Addressing journalists during his homecoming engagements, Seriki emphasized his long-standing commitment to human welfare as the foundation for his governance blueprint.
“Power is transient, no matter who you are, what you are, or what you think you are,” Seriki stated.
“If you believe in Allah, the first thing you must do is to take care of humanity. I am a man of the people, and Kwarans are happy because of this endorsement by Governor AbdulRazaq. We are fully prepared to protect and sustain his good work.” He added.
Directly from the airport, the high-powered APC delegation visited the palace of the Emir of Ilorin to pay royal homage and seek ancestral blessings following the official succession announcement.
The gubernatorial hopeful was warmly received by the Personal Assistant to the Emir, Alhaji Dr. Murtala AbdulRaheem before moving into the inner chambers to meet with the revered monarch, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR.
Showering Seriki with royal prayers, the Emir expressed his fatherly pride and assured him of continuous spiritual guidance, urging him to remain steadfast and magnanimous as he takes on the task of leading the state’s next political chapter.
