Socio-cultural organizations and community stakeholders under the aegis of the Igbomina Assembly have expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, following the emergence of the first female house of representatives flagbearer on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara South.
The gratitude followed the victory of Chief (Mrs.) Yewande Esther Bosede Mobolaji-Dauda at the just-concluded ruling party primary election for the Offa/Oyun/Ifelodun Federal Constituency.
In an open letter addressed to the President and made available to 9japarrot media, the coalition of “Concerned Sons and Daughters of Igbomina Land” commended the federal administration for creating a level playing field that actively drives women’s inclusion and mainstreaming in Nigerian governance.
The groups noted that the transparent conduct of the legislative primary in the federal constituency serves as tangible proof that President Tinubu is actively operationalizing his administration’s commitment to the 35 per cent affirmative action policy.
They emphasized that by discouraging arbitrary impositions and encouraging competent female aspirants to seek elective offices, the Renewed Hope agenda has successfully broken a long-standing political glass ceiling in Kwara South.
“Mr. President, you did not only speak about the 35% affirmative action; you created the atmosphere for it to thrive,” the open letter stated.
“Today, Igbomina land celebrates its first female candidate for the House of Representatives on the APC platform. This victory has energized our mothers, daughters, and sisters across Kwara South, proving that their voices matter.” they added.
According to the community stakeholders, Mobolaji-Dauda’s victory at the primary ballot has triggered widespread enthusiasm among youth wings and women networks across the constituent towns of Offa, Oyun, and Ifelodun.
The statement remarked that the milestone sends a powerful signal to every young girl in the region regarding her capacity to take up leadership positions and drive legislative change at the national level.
While thanking the national leadership of the APC for ensuring internal party democracy, the Igbomina coalition vowed to build a formidable grassroots alliance across the three local government areas to ensure victory for the female candidate in the 2027 general elections.
They asserted that the absolute mobilization of the constituency remains non-negotiable to successfully translate this primary victory into qualitative representation for the people within the Green Chamber of the National Assembly.
