Today marks a significant chapter in the political evolution of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, one that reflects not merely a political decision, but a profound demonstration of maturity, sacrifice, and unity of purpose.
Following extensive consultations and a spirit of genuine brotherhood among the gubernatorial aspirants of our great party, a consensus was reached in the overall interest of the PDP and the future of Kwara State. Consequently, our revered leader, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, presented Engr. Bolakale Kawu as the consensus gubernatorial candidate of the party for the 2027 election.
This moment should not be viewed through the narrow lens of individual triumph. Rather, it should be celebrated as the victory of collective responsibility over personal interest, of unity over division, and of purpose over ambition. It serves as a powerful reminder that when a political family is driven by shared values, mutual respect, and a sincere commitment to the greater good, extraordinary outcomes become possible.
Today, the Kwara PDP family has once again reaffirmed a principle that has long defined its identity: we are one big family, bound by care and united by purpose. Families may occasionally hold differing opinions and aspirations, but their enduring strength lies in their ability to remain united in pursuit of a common objective. That spirit of togetherness has once again prevailed within the party.
Profound appreciation must be extended to the aspirants whose sacrifices, maturity, and statesmanship made this consensus possible. Their campaigns brought ideas, energy, and renewed enthusiasm into the party structure. More importantly, their willingness to place the interest of the party above personal aspirations demonstrates leadership of the highest order. Such sacrifice is not a sign of defeat; rather, it is a testament to patriotism and commitment to the future that the party seeks to build.
Special recognition must also be given to our leader, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, CON whose visionary leadership, political wisdom, and unwavering commitment to unity continue to provide direction and inspiration. Leadership is not merely measured by influence or authority, but by the ability to unite diverse interests, preserve harmony, and inspire confidence during critical moments. His role in promoting inclusiveness and strengthening the bond within the party deserves commendation.
As Engr. Bolakale Kawu now carries the banner of our great party, the responsibility ahead rests on every stakeholder and every loyal member of the PDP family. Electoral victories are not secured by candidates alone; they are achieved through collective effort, strategic mobilization, grassroots engagement, and an unwavering commitment to a shared vision.
The journey toward 2027 has begun. The task ahead is clear: to take the message of hope, unity, and progress to every ward, every community, every village, and all sixteen local government areas of Kwara State.
