Kwara Digital Literacy Programme: Week 4 Records Landmark Growth in Student Coding Capabilities

The ongoing 2026 Kwara Coding and Digital Literacy Programme has recorded a significant surge in student participation and technical mastery, marking a successful mid-term transition from introductory concepts to advanced, practical computing.

According to an update released on Monday by the Media Team of the Office of the Special Assistant on Digital Innovation, the fourth week of the third term witnessed public school students demonstrating high-level proficiency across critical tech domains, including software development and systems security.

The state-sponsored initiative, which cuts across multiple designated hubs in the state, has become a core vehicle for grassroots technological inclusion under the current administration.

Throughout the week, participating students actively engaged in hands-on coding exercises, moving beyond basic digital literacy into real-world applications.

In the programming modules, learners practiced fundamental Python concepts, writing scripts to solve basic logical problems. The web development tracks saw students experimenting with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to build interactive interface frameworks, while the instructors placed a heavy emphasis on data analysis and defensive cybersecurity protocols to teach safe, responsible internet practices.

To accurately measure the impact of the curriculum, the week featured a comprehensive pre-evaluation exercise. This standardized assessment allowed students to defend their acquired tech skills, while providing the project’s managers with precise data on knowledge retention to help fine-tune instructional delivery moving forward.

In a strategic move to preserve the premium quality of the program, the state government hosted a mandatory, high-intensity Training of Trainers (ToT) session for all active facilitators on Friday, May 22, 2026.
The specialized training workshop was designed to align local instructors with global technology education standards, equipping them with advanced pedagogical methodologies to effectively guide the children through the increasingly complex programming structures slated for the second half of the term.

“This strategic training initiative ensures that instructors remain aligned with global tech education standards,” the statement from the SA’s office noted.

“It equips them with advanced methodologies necessary to effectively guide students through the complex coding and digital literacy modules slated for the upcoming weeks.” it added.

The project leadership extended its profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, emphasizing that his administration’s consistent funding and visionary political will have continued to democratize tech education for public school students.

By investing heavily in the state’s digital ecosystem, analysts note that Kwara is systematically building a highly competitive, future-ready workforce capable of thriving within the fast-evolving global digital economy.
