•’We Are Testing Mic,’ Turaki Tells Supporters

The city of Ilorin was thrown into a festive atmosphere on Tuesday as Kwara Central Senator, Distinguished Senator Saliu Mustapha returned home to a heroic welcome from thousands of residents, political associates, party faithfuls, and admirers across Kwara State.
The Senator, who holds the traditional title of Turaki of Ilorin, was received by a massive crowd at the General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport, where supporters gathered in large numbers to welcome him amid chants, music, and jubilation.
The reception later transformed into a colourful road procession that stretched across major parts of the state capital, causing heavy traffic gridlock from the Airport through Geri Alimi, Oja Tuntun, Baboko, Agaka, Emir’s Palace and other adjoining communities before terminating at the the Senator’s constituency office in Fate.
Supporters were seen singing songs in praise of the Senator while waving banners and chanting solidarity slogans, creating an atmosphere filled with excitement and celebration.
At every stop, residents trooped out from homes, shops, and business areas to catch a glimpse of the lawmaker as the motorcade moved through the metropolis in what many described as one of the largest political receptions witnessed in recent times in Ilorin.
This was followed with a historic arrival to the Emirs Palace where Senator Mustapha paid royal homage to the revered Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari (CFR) reaffirming his respect for the traditional institution and the cultural heritage of the Ilorin Emirate.
The Emir offered prayers for Senator Saliu Mustapha, asking Almighty Allah to continue to guide, protect, and grant him wisdom, strength, and success in the discharge of his responsibilities to the people.
Addressing the thousands of supporters at his office in Fate, Senator Mustapha said his return to Ilorin was primarily to celebrate the Sallah season with his people, stressing that the moment should not be mistaken for the commencement of political activities.
“We are only testing the mic, politics has not started,” the Senator stated drawing cheers and laughter from the excited crowd.
He also expressed deep appreciation to supporters, party faithfuls, and loyalists for their unwavering love, loyalty, and massive turnout, assuring them of his continued commitment to the growth, unity, and development of Kwara State.
