••• Oloro of Oro Kingdom Honoured with Merit Award
The campus of the iconic Jama’at Nasril Islam Grammar School in Oke-Ola Oro, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, became the focal point of community celebration on Saturday as the institution hosted its 2nd Official Grand Reunion.
The high-profile homecoming, which has further solidified the old students’ association as a progressive force to be reckoned with in Kwara State, brought together distinguished alumni, elder statesmen, and key community stakeholders from across the country to celebrate the enduring legacy of the iconic college.
The reunion program commenced in the morning with spiritual solemnity as Mr. Ismail Aribidesi, a prominent member of the central planning committee, delivered the opening prayers.
Welcoming the returning graduates, the National President of the Association, Mr. Lawal Olarewaju Azeez expressed profound joy at the steady growth of the alumni network.
In his opening address, Mr. Azeez emphasized that the reunion serves not merely as a platform for social reconnection, but as a critical, data-driven framework to pool resources together to rescue, upgrade, and modernize the educational infrastructure of their alma mater.
The gathering on the school’s open field also featured the presence of frontline community leaders and elder statesmen, notably Alhaji Raheem Adeyemi who lauded the old students for keeping the progressive flame of the institution burning through their consistent interventions.
The energy at the venue surged during the grand arrival of the Oloro of Oro. While receiving the plaque of honor from the association’s executive committee amid loud ovations, Oba Joel Olaniyi Oyatoye Titiloye Olufayo II expressed deep gratitude to the leadership for tracking and recognizing his developmental footprints at the college.
The monarch dedicated the prestigious award to all his subjects, including sons and daughters of Oro Kingdom across the globe, describing them as the true engine room of the kingdom’s social capital.
“I am deeply honored to receive this Merit Award from the Old Students Association of Jama’at Nasril Islam Grammar School,” Oloro stated.
“This recognition is for our shared history and collective development. I highly commend the alumni for this initiative, and I urge you all to never relent in contributing immensely through your distinct professional and financial networks to advance the growth of this iconic college.” He added.

Following the royal charge delivered by the Oloro, several ancestral alumni sets stepped forward to announce targeted intervention plans. The sets jointly promised to immediately fund the upgrade of core learning facilities, digitize the school library, and establish welfare endowments to support indigent students currently enrolled in the institution.
The landmark event wound down into a colorful celebration of cultural heritage, elite networking sessions, and commemorative group photographs on the campus field, further solidifying the historic bond between the host community and the institution.
