Following the sacking of Arne Slot, Liverpool football club appoint former Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola as their new head coach.
Iraola joins Liverpool after an impressive spell with AFC Bournemouth, where he gained recognition for his attacking style of play and strong leadership. The 43-year-old Spaniard is expected to begin a new chapter at Anfield as the club seeks to return to the summit of English and European football.
The appointment was confirmed on Thursday after Slot was dismissed following a disappointing Premier League title defence. Despite leading Liverpool to their 20th English league title in his first season, the club endured a difficult campaign thereafter.
Liverpool did not disclose the length of Iraola’s contract, although British media reports suggest that the Spaniard has signed a two-year deal.
Speaking on Liverpool’s official website, the 43-year-old expressed his excitement about taking charge of one of the world’s biggest clubs.
“I’m really excited because, obviously, you know Liverpool is a big club, a massive club and one of the biggest in the world,” Iraola said.
“But after learning more about the club and feeling its atmosphere from the inside, I have always believed it is a special club,” he added.
