Falana, Falz Lead Calls for Action as Protesters Rally Against Insecurity in Lagos

By Monsurat Abisoye

Human rights lawyer Femi Falana and his son, Nigerian rapper Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, joined protesters in Lagos on Friday to demonstrate against worsening economic conditions and insecurity in the country.

The protest took place at the Ikeja Underbridge, where participants called on the government to take urgent action to address the nation’s growing security challenges and rising hardship.

Carrying placards with messages such as “No Democracy Without Security,” “End Insecurity and Kidnapping,” “End Bad Governance,” and “Free All Abducted Children, Teachers, Farmers,” the demonstrators expressed concern over the increasing number of lives lost to insecurity, which they attributed to poor governance and ineffective policies.

The protest came shortly after President Bola Tinubu addressed the nation, assuring Nigerians that his administration remained committed to ending the security crisis. The President, who is expected to seek re-election in 2027, reiterated his confidence that the country would overcome the challenge of insecurity.

The demonstration highlighted growing public frustration over persistent kidnappings, violent attacks and the economic difficulties facing many Nigerians.
