The Senate Committee on Drugs and Narcotics has pledged its full backing for the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in its ongoing efforts to combat substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking in Nigeria.
The assurance was given during a visit by the committee’s new Chairman, Senator Joseph Igiagbe Ikpea, to the NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive, Brigadier-General Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja. Ikpea said the visit was aimed at fostering collaboration and gaining deeper insight into the agency’s operations, while commending Marwa’s track record as former military governor of old Borno State, military administrator of Lagos State, and current NDLEA boss.
In response, Marwa thanked the senator for the visit and assured him of the agency’s readiness to work closely with the Senate committee to strengthen the fight against drug abuse and trafficking.
