Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Igboho, has given Fulani leaders in Igboho, Oyo State, a two-hour ultimatum to produce the body of a pregnant woman allegedly kidnapped and killed by suspected Fulani gunmen.
The victims, a pregnant woman and her sibling, were reportedly abducted from their home in the Igboho area during the night. The kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N300 million, which was later reduced to N150 million.
Addressing Fulani leaders in Igboho in Yoruba, Igboho condemned the incident, saying he would not tolerate kidnapping and killings in his hometown. He alleged that the abductors murdered both the pregnant woman and the individual who delivered the ransom, while one captive was left alive.
He insisted that the victims’ families would not pay any ransom, arguing instead that Fulani leaders in the community should contribute the money demanded by the kidnappers if they wished to secure the release of the remaining victims.
Igboho further claimed that efforts to trace the kidnappers led to several locations within the community, including the residences of some Fulani leaders, where he alleged the victims were moved.
He warned that the kidnapped woman, her children and her sibling must be released within two hours or there would be serious consequences, stressing that such incidents should never happen again in Igboho.
The activist also accused the kidnappers of repeatedly targeting Yoruba residents while sparing members of the Fulani community, urging both groups to live peacefully and warning that the latest incident must mark the end of such attacks.
