The Conglomerate of Kwara Christian Communities (CKCC) has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to consider fielding a Christian as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The Conglomerate of Kwara Christian Communities made this call via a letter written to President Bola Tinubu on June 27, 2026. The letter was jointly signed by Rev Felix Ajide, Amb samson Abomire, Dr David Olayemi and Engr Patrick Agbejokha.
They noted that the Christian Community with 49 percent of the state population has not produced Kwara State Governor since 1999.
The letter reads in part: “The game of numbers: your Excellency, as we all know that politics is a game of numbers
and in the name of timely justice, unequivocal fairness, real time inclusion and major quests
for equity by the people of Kwara State: We the Christian Society of Kwara State plead with
your Excellency to consider and support a Christian brother to occupy the number one seat of Kwara State come 2027 through the bulk votes of indigene and non indigene of Kwara State.
“It is Crystal Clear today, that non of the opposition parties is able to bargain for our votes till date because all their candidates are non-Christian. The opposition parties turn a deaf ear to Christian agitation for a Christian governor in Kwara State since 1983.
Your Excellency, we make bold to tell you that we at the Conglomerate of Kwara State Christian Communities (CKCC) are ready to partner with our Muslim brothers to produce a
Christian governor in 2027. It is a done deal as at today your Excellency.
Your Excellency, the father of Nigeria, 2027 Kwara State Gubernatorial candidates we assured you will put to rest the ongoing scheme and bring every Gubernatorial aspirant in Kwara State to work for the victory of APC in Kwara State. We assured your Excellency.”
According to them, out of about 49% Christian in Kwara State, we promised your
Excellency of 38.5% of our votes if Christian is given Kwara State 2027 gubernatorial ticket.
Adding that: “We have done it in favour of our Muslim brothers back-to-back in 1999 that produce late
governor Muhammad Alabi Lawal, 2003 to 2011 that produce Dr. Abubarkar Bukola Saraki, 2011 to 2019 that produced Dr. Abdulfatai Ahmed and 2019 till date that produce the
incumbent governor and Mr project, his Excellency governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq.”
