Popular Nigerian actor Joseph Momodu has announced his departure from acting after enlisting in the United States Army, months after relocating to the US.
The actor disclosed the development in an Instagram post over the weekend, describing his enlistment as the fulfilment of a lifelong dream.
Momodu revealed that he enlisted on 12 April 2026 and dedicated the milestone to his late father, who served in the Nigeria Police Force before his death 20 years ago.
Reflecting on his military training, he admitted experiencing moments of doubt and questioning his decision, but said he remained focused on achieving his goal.
Momodu is now serving as Specialist (SPC) J.A. Momodu with the 1st Platoon, Charlie Company, 3-10, 3rd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
He joins a growing list of Nollywood stars who have entered military service in the United States, including Mayowa Dosu and Grace-Charis Bassey.
