EXCLUSIVE: Coast Clear for Olasumbo Florence to Fly APC Ticket for Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency as Ajuloopin Withdraw From Race

By 9japarrot

Former Kwara State Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Olasumbo Oyeyemi Florence, has officially emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke Ero Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections, following the withdrawal of incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Raheem Olawuyi Ajuloopin from the race.

The development marks a significant turning point in the political landscape of the constituency, bringing an end to months of speculation over who would fly the party’s flag after the keenly contested APC House of Representatives primary held in May 2026.

Sources familiar with the development disclosed to 9japarrot media that the decision followed extensive consultations among party leaders and stakeholders aimed at preserving unity within the APC and strengthening the party’s chances in the 2027 general election.

Hon. Ajuloopin from Irepodun Local Government has represented the Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke Ero Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives since November 2018 and had sought a third consecutive term during the APC primary.

However, his decision to step aside has now paved the way for Hon. Olasumbo to become the party’s official standard-bearer.

Meanwhile, according to another reliable source, Hon. Ajuloopin’s withdrawal was prompted from the unfavorable political circumstance. The source explained to 9japarrot that the Kwara South APC Senatorial Candidate, Prince Lekan Adewoye (LAF) hails from Irepodun, and the APC House of Assembly Candidate for Irepodun State Constituency is also from the same Local Government with the incumbent lawmaker.

This development now lead to a political trade between a two-term House of Reps Member, Hon. Ajuloopin and other Senatorial and House of Assembly Candidates who are just seeking elected political office.

A respected politician, Hon. Olasumbo who served as Commissioner for Finance during Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s first term in office, hails from Oke-Ero Local Government Are of Kwara South Senatorial District.

Her emergence is expected to reshape the political dynamics within the constituency, with party loyalists describing her candidacy as a strategic move capable of consolidating the APC’s support base across the four local government areas.

Party insiders believe the decision reflects the APC leadership’s commitment to internal cohesion and its resolve to present a formidable candidate for the National Assembly seat.

The development is also a major boost for women’s participation in politics, as Hon. Olasumbo now becomes one of the female candidates to secure the APC ticket to contest in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

Although neither Hon. Olasumbo nor Hon. Ajuloopin had publicly commented on the latest development as of the time of filing this report, party faithful across Ekiti, Irepodun, Isin and Oke Ero Local Government Areas have begun celebrating the resolution of the ticket dispute.

According to a reliable source, Hon. Olasumbo is reportedly to have filled the INEC Nomination form, a move that has further solidified her candidature as the flag bearer of Kwara APC for Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero federal constituency, while Hon Ajuloopin is expected to address his political supporters and associates in coming days on the recent developments where he’ll officially announce his withdrawal from the race.

With the APC’s internal process now effectively settled, attention is expected to shift to preparations for the 2027 general election, where Hon. Olasumbo will seek to retain the Federal Constituency seat for the ruling party.
