Sobi FM Appoints Oluwafemi Oparinde as New General Manager

The Board of Trustees of Sobi 101.9 FM has announced the appointment of Oluwafemi Oparinde (popularly known as Opasobi) as the station’s new General Manager.

The landmark announcement was made live by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees during a special broadcast on Ọ̀rọ̀ Ìlú, the station’s flagship multilingual socio-political program. The appointment coincides with the station’s 9th anniversary celebrations, marking nearly a decade of broadcasting excellence in Kwara State and the wider North Central region.

Oparinde, who previously served as the Head of Programmes at Sobi FM, is a seasoned broadcaster and a household name across Kwara State. He has long anchored several of the station’s most popular indigenous programs, including Fẹlifẹli, ọmọ ologi,  Jẹ́ Ká Jọ Ṣe, and Lálálé Friday.

His promotion to the top executive role is seen by industry insiders as a strategic move to leverage internal talent and maintain the station’s strong corporate mandate of “Engendering Social Rebirth among the Youths.”

During his live address on Ọ̀rọ̀ Ìlú, the Board Chairman commiserated with the public and commended the resilience of the staff, noting that the station’s growth over the last nine years has redefined the media landscape in Kwara State through timely, reliable, and grassroots-centered journalism.

With this appointment, Oparinde is expected to steer the broadcast outfit into its next phase of digital and structural expansion, fortifying its position as a leading regional voice across its multiple broadcast languages, including English, Yoruba, Hausa, Nupe, Fulfulde, and Batonu.
