The family of Abdulazeez Abubakar Abiodun, popularly known as Kebe, has appealed to security agencies, the media, human rights organizations, and well-meaning Nigerians to help ensure justice following his alleged murder in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State.
In a statement issued on behalf of the family by his second daughter, Abdulazeez Rofiat, the family recounted the tragic circumstances surrounding his death.
According to the statement, Abdulazeez Abubakar Abiodun left his residence in Isalu, Isin Local Government Area, at about 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026, to attend to his cocoa farm located in Owa-Onire, also within Isin Local Government Area. Farming was his primary source of livelihood, and the trip was part of his regular routine.
The family said they became worried when he failed to return home later that day. After several unsuccessful attempts to reach him, they alerted local hunters and members of the community, who immediately began a search.
Upon arriving at the farm, the search party reportedly found only his motorcycle parked at the location, while he was nowhere to be found. Initially fearing that he had been kidnapped, the family waited in anticipation of a possible ransom demand, but no contact was made.
The search continued into the surrounding bush, where the hunters later made a tragic discovery. According to the family, Abdulazeez’s lifeless body was found some distance away from the farm. They alleged that his hands had been tied and that he had been brutally killed.
Describing the incident as devastating, the family said the deceased was a devoted husband, a caring father, and a hardworking farmer whose only mission that morning was to provide for his family.
The family noted that several days after the incident, they remain overwhelmed by grief while seeking answers about the circumstances surrounding his death. They called on law enforcement authorities to conduct a thorough investigation, identify those responsible, and ensure they are prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The family also appealed to journalists, bloggers, civil society organizations, community leaders, and relevant security agencies to help amplify the case and ensure it receives the attention necessary for justice to be served.
“We want those responsible for this terrible crime to be identified, arrested, and prosecuted according to the law. My father deserves justice, and our family deserves answers. We will continue to seek justice until those responsible are held accountable,” the statement concluded.
The family urged anyone with useful information that could assist investigators to report it to the appropriate security agencies.
