Fire has broken out at a power generation and water desalination plant in Kuwait following an Iranian missile and drone attack, forcing authorities to shut down several power generation units as emergency crews work to contain the incident.

Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy confirmed that the attack caused the fire, adding that firefighters and technical teams have been deployed to extinguish the blaze and carry out repair works at the affected facility.

The attack also disrupted air travel across the country, prompting the temporary suspension of operations at Kuwait International Airport.

Following the closure of Kuwaiti airspace, Kuwait Airways announced the rescheduling of most of its flights, citing the security situation.

The airline urged affected passengers to monitor updates regarding revised flight schedules as authorities continue to assess the impact of the attack.
