The Kwara State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Wing (AA Youth Wing) has organized a Community Resilience Pledge at the Banquet Hall in Ilorin, mobilizing grassroots support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and formally endorsing the APC governorship candidate, Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi Salihu, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The gathering convened under the theme: “We Pledge to Stand for Peace, Unity, and the Well-being of Our Community in the State; We Affirm that an Injury to One is an Injury to All” drew delegates from across all the 16 Local Government Areas and 193 wards of the State, bringing together senior government officials, traditional rulers, women leaders, artisan associations, community stakeholders, and youth representatives.
Delivering the keynote address, the Convener of the AA Youth Wing, Ambassador Akanbi Ilyas Shola, stated that the gathering represented a collective resolve to protect the peace, unity, and development of Kwara State regardless of political, ethnic, or religious differences.
“This programme is more than a political gathering; it represents a collective commitment by stakeholders to protect the peace and development of Kwara State” He said.
“We urge our young people to remain disciplined and united in safeguarding the tranquility enjoyed across our communities while actively taking part in the democratic process by obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).” Ambassador Akanbi added.
Ambassador Akanbi commended Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his administration’s developmental strides across infrastructure, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and economic innovation, which were featured in a documentary presentation during the event. He lauded the governor for supporting the emergence of Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi Salihu as the party’s governorship flagbearer, expressing confidence in the Speaker’s capacity to consolidate on existing gains.
Also addressing delegates, the Coordinator of the Kwara Central Elders Caucus, Alhaji Abdulrasak Lawal, highlighted peace and mutual security as indispensable prerequisites for sustainable growth and investment.
Alhaji Lawal commended the security collaboration between the Federal and Kwara State governments, noting key interventions such as enrolling community security personnel into the Kwara State Health Insurance Scheme, the establishment of an Army Division headquarters in Ilorin to reinforce regional security and creating platforms for young leaders to occupy major governance and political positions, demonstrated by the endorsement of Speaker Danladi Salihu.
“A peaceful environment attracts investment, promotes economic growth, and enables governments to channel more resources toward developmental projects. Youths across the state must justify the confidence reposed in them through active political participation and constructive support.” the Elder Statesman added.
The assembly featured an interactive panel discussion with representatives from all 16 local government areas reviewing the AbdulRazaq administration’s performance across key development sectors.
The gathering concluded with delegates formally adopting the Community Resilience Pledge as a proactive framework for non-violence, civic duty, and grassroots mobilization toward securing victory for the APC in the 2027 general elections.
