2027: Kwara South Monarchs Pledge Full Backing to APC Candidates, Says Ticket Reflects Equity, Fairness

The Kwara South Traditional Council has unanimously resolved to support and mobilize for the victory of the All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

Attributing their decision to the developmental strides of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration, the royal fathers stated that residents of the state, particularly in the southern senatorial district, could not afford to reverse the developmental momentum achieved under the ruling party.

Speaking on behalf of traditional rulers across the Igbomina, Ibolo, and Ekiti blocs, the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Ismail Yahya Alebiosu, announced that the council was backing the APC governorship candidate and Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi Salihu, who hails from Kwara North Senatorial District, in the interest of equity, fairness, and justice.

“If you look at all the candidates presented by the APC, they satisfy the principles of equity and fairness. That is the right path to follow,” Olupo stated.

The monarch expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for heeding the traditional institution’s recommendation to support Kwara North for the governorship seat and concede the Kwara South Senatorial ticket to the Igbomina bloc.

“I have been mandated by the traditional institution in this local government and across the entire senatorial district to assure you of our 101 per cent support,” Oba Alebiosu told APC candidates and supporters at his palace in Ajase-Ipo, where the Irepodun Local Government Council of Chiefs was also in attendance.

“We are going to do everything legally permissible to ensure your party succeeds come 2027. By the grace of God, our candidates will win from top to bottom.” he said.

He further urged all political stakeholders and party members to maintain peace, remain committed, and avoid internal friction ahead of the campaign season.

Similarly, the Elerin of Erin-Ile and Chairman of the Oyun Local Government Council of Chiefs, HRH Oba Jimoh Adebowale Adesoye, assured the party leadership that traditional rulers in the area would mobilize their subjects for the APC as a gesture of appreciation for the governor’s performance.

Speaking through the Onipe of Ipee, Oba Muftau Adebayo Lawal Titiloye III, the monarch noted, “The APC government has transformed this state, and the party deserves continuity. We can assure you that traditional rulers and residents of Oyun are fully behind your party.”

At his palace in Offa, the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye, also endorsed the candidates, expressing optimism that the APC flag-bearers would deliver effective representation and governance.

“All these candidates are my children, and they have my full backing. You will succeed at the polls,” Olofa remarked.

In his response, the Kwara State APC Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, commended the traditional rulers and residents of Oyun, Offa, and Irepodun local government areas for their loyalty and peaceful conduct during the party’s primary elections.

Fagbemi emphasized that the timely submission of candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission portal underscored the internal discipline and organization within the Kwara APC.
