The Kwara State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has passed a vote of confidence on former Senate President and National Leader of the party, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, while mandating him to enter into political engagements with the aggrieved Kwara APC G15 group ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decisions were part of a four-point communiqué issued at the end of a two-day stakeholders’ meeting held between Wednesday, August 5, and Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Saraki’s GRA residence in Ilorin.
The high-level meeting drew political leaders and stakeholders across Kwara Central, Kwara North, and Kwara South senatorial districts, including present and former public office holders, state party executives, candidates, party elders, and youth representatives.
Addressing the assembly, Saraki commended party aspirants and stakeholders for their sacrifices during and after the 2026 primary elections, praising their dedication to keeping the main opposition party united.
In the communique signed by the State Chairman Hon. Adamu Isa Bawa and State Secretary Engr. Abdulrahman Abdullahi Kayode, the stakeholders unanimously mandated Saraki to initiate formal talks with members of the APC’s G15 recently rebranded as The Otoge Progressives as well as other political groups looking to align with the PDP.
“Noting that the PDP in Kwara State is already strong and united, the meeting mandated His Excellency, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki to proceed with engagements with members of the Kwara APC’s G15 and other political parties, with the objective of further strengthening the PDP and expanding its base ahead of future elections.” the group said in the Communiqué.
The communiqué further urged all party members, candidates, and aspirants to subordinate personal ambitions to the broader goal of reclaiming governance in Kwara State.
The leadership emphasized that unity, personal sacrifice, and collective discipline remain imperative for securing victory in 2027, particularly as negotiations regarding the potential integration of incoming political blocs progress.
The party also commended Saraki’s inclusive leadership approach during recent party congresses, noting that the transparent conduct of internal affairs has deepened intra-party democracy and solidified stability across the state chapter.
