KWAPDA, NCAN Hold General Meeting in Ilorin, Reaffirms Dauda Alabi as Kwara Chairman

The Kwara State Agriculture Produce Dealers Association (KWAPDA) in collaboration with the National Cashew Association of Nigeria (NCAN), held its third Annual General Meeting for 2026 on Wednesday in Ilorin, with members unanimously passing a vote of confidence in the leadership of Alhaji Dauda Alabi Babatunde.

Addressing participants, the Chairman of Kwara South NCAN/KWAPDA, Prince Akeeb Sulyman, alerted members to external attempts by certain figures to impose parallel leadership structures on the state body. He condemned moves to cultivate unauthorized “godfatherism” within the association by leveraging national influence to disrupt established local frameworks.

Contributing to the discussion, Former Women Leader of the association, Hajia Falilat poutlined proactive strategies to protect the association’s integrity and foster unity among members.

She advocated for structured engagement with traditional institutions, including the Emir of Ilorin, as well as key political stakeholders, to resolve leadership grievances amicably before pursuing formal regulatory or legal options.

Following the deliberations, Mr. Nasir Balogun, speaking on behalf of the 16 local government chairmen, formally moved a vote of confidence in Alhaji Dauda Akanbi’s leadership.

The assembly unanimously reaffirmed Alabi as the authentic Kwara State Chairman, firmly rejecting any external attempt to impose an unconstitutional executive on the produce dealers and cashew trade ecosystem.
