The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Youth Leader in Ekiti Local Government Area and a stakeholder in Kwara PDP, Comrade Abiodun Segun Ege, has commended the Eruku-born House of Representatives aspirant, Dr. Harry Ilori, for his maturity, steadfastness, humility, and spirit of sportsmanship before, during, and after the party’s primary election, particularly over the Irepodun/Ekiti/Isin/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency ticket. Ege described Ilori’s aspiration as one driven by a genuine desire to serve the people and contribute to the development and betterment of Igbomina/Ekiti land, rather than personal ambition.
According to Ege, his short period of working closely with Dr. Ilori revealed remarkable qualities in him. He described Ilori as a silent achiever who believes in keeping promises and going beyond expectations whenever responsibility is entrusted to him. “Dr. Harry is the type who may appear as though he does not have much, but whenever responsibility comes his way, he will do more than you expect. He believes in what God can do for him, values relationships, and never looks down on anyone. Whenever you go to him for help, he will find a way to put a smile on your face. He may not have much, but he is a giver,” Ege said.
Ege further praised Dr. Ilori for his maturity, wealth of exposure, strong faith, and respect for the democratic process. He recalled Dr. Ilori’s statement after the primary: “This particular journey has ended, but service continues.” According to him, the statement captured the true character of Ilori as a man who understands that political contests may end, but service to humanity must continue. “You are a winner. Your ambition was about the people and for the people. Your courage, maturity, and sportsmanship throughout this process have shown that true leadership is not only about winning elections but also about putting the people first,” he added.
Reflecting on his role during the campaign, Ege said he served as Dr. Ilori’s spokesperson without regrets and remained proud of the experience. He also highlighted what he described as the enduring strength of the Saraki political family and Kwara PDP. “The secret of our great party, the Saraki Dynasty and Kwara PDP, is discipline. I served Dr. Harry Ilori without regrets, and I have no regrets about the role I played throughout the process. His conduct throughout the primary further demonstrated the importance of discipline, loyalty, maturity, and commitment to the party,” Ege stated.
Ege said that despite the outcome of the primary, he remained committed to the PDP and would continue to work with other members and stakeholders for the success of the party in the 2027 general elections and beyond. “With the spirit of God and love for our great party, we will continue to work for the success of the PDP come 2027 and beyond,” he said, while urging Dr. Ilori’s supporters to remain united, hopeful, and committed to the ideals of service, unity, and development.
Ege concluded by congratulating his principal, Dr. Harry Ilori, on his participation in the just-concluded PDP House of Representatives primary and prayed that greater opportunities would come his way. “It is my prayer that the good things ahead of Dr. Harry Ilori will not elude him. May God continue to guide him, strengthen him, and open greater doors of service and opportunity for him. Congratulations to my principal, Dr. Harry Ilori.
