NATASHA

Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan has called on Muslims across Nigeria to use the celebration of Mawlid an Nabi as an opportunity to promote peace, compassion, justice and peaceful coexistence.

Akpoti Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, made the call in a goodwill message to Muslim faithful in her constituency and across the country to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad.

She urged Muslims to reflect on the life and teachings of the Prophet, noting that the values he exemplified remained relevant to the challenges confronting Nigeria.

The senator said Mawlid should go beyond festivities and provide an opportunity for Muslims to strengthen their faith, foster unity and show kindness to people irrespective of their religious, ethnic or political backgrounds.

She particularly urged Muslims in Kogi Central to sustain the tradition of peaceful coexistence among the various communities and faiths in the district.

According to her, the area has a rich history of religious and communal harmony, which she urged residents to preserve through mutual respect and understanding.

Akpoti Uduaghan also called on Muslim leaders, parents and youths to use the occasion to promote moral discipline, dialogue, compassion for vulnerable people and responsible citizenship.

She encouraged Muslims to support the poor and needy, stressing that caring for vulnerable members of society reflects the humanitarian values exemplified by Prophet Muhammad.

The senator further urged Nigerians to reject religious intolerance, hatred, violence and divisive rhetoric, particularly at a time when the country requires greater unity and understanding.

She called on political, traditional and religious leaders to promote peaceful coexistence and constructive engagement across communities.

“Nigeria belongs to all of us, and our collective progress depends on our ability to live together in peace. Let us use the lessons of Mawlid to strengthen our commitment to unity, justice, compassion and peaceful coexistence,” she said.

Akpoti Uduaghan prayed for peace, prosperity and divine guidance for Muslims in Kogi Central and across Nigeria, wishing the faithful a meaningful and spiritually rewarding Mawlid celebration.

She added, “May the blessings of this Mawlid bring peace to our homes, progress to our communities and renewed hope to our nation. May Almighty Allah continue to guide and bless the Muslim Ummah, Kogi Central and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
